30/04/2021: Farm land introduction (page 5).

 Below is the rough sketch for the introduction to the farm land habitat section (double) page 5.


The following are some of the collage pieces made for this spread. I particularly like the layering of textures in the bird nest piece




Below are is the first final version of the farmland piece. I like it over all but the scale doesn't quite work properly on this one.


After discussing with my tutor, we decided that the animals and grass could be removed as they throw off the depth and scale of the piece and he also suggested adding more leaves to the tree to make it bigger. With this in mind, here is the second version of the spread that I made. Overall i feel like this version works better than the original however, I do feel that it is lacking without the farm animals there.

12/05/2021: Bees (page 13).

Below is the rough design for the bee spread I am working on. My idea behind this piece was that I wanted to feature bees and their hive amongst an apple tree which I collaged as part of my work in the authorship unit. With it being one of my more successful collage works, I really wanted an opportunity to use it in this book Below is the final image. I really like how this page spread turned out. I like the texture and the colours and think it is visually exciting

14/05/2021: Inside barn(page 6).

Below is the design for the barn spread. For this page I wanted to show all the insects that live in the damp dark conditions in a barn within a farm habitat Below is the final art work for this spread. I decided to replace the spiders with more moths as I really liked the design of the collaged moths and thought they would stand out better on the dark background as opposed to how the spiders would look.
