29/04/2021: Rockpool (page 3).

 Below is the original rough sketch for double page 2 - the rockpool.


For the second version, I didn't change too much as I felt really happy with the over all composition, I did however plan out where the text will be placed 


For my research, I looked at a few of my field guides to find inspiration for the wildlife that I would include in his piece


Below are some of the collage pages used for this spread - again they are all on a A4 piece of paper which was scanned in and digitally collaged on photoshop.




Here is the final image for the rockpool double page. Overall I am really happy with the outcome. I like the colour pallet I chose and I also slightly re designed the crab and various other aspects of the pieces to make the overall look a lot cleaner. this page was quite a challenge to make sure to the amount of layers it had on photoshop but I think that the challenge paid off as there are lots of exciting shapes to look at and the overall flow of the page has lots of movement.

12/05/2021: Bees (page 13).

Below is the rough design for the bee spread I am working on. My idea behind this piece was that I wanted to feature bees and their hive amongst an apple tree which I collaged as part of my work in the authorship unit. With it being one of my more successful collage works, I really wanted an opportunity to use it in this book Below is the final image. I really like how this page spread turned out. I like the texture and the colours and think it is visually exciting

14/05/2021: Inside barn(page 6).

Below is the design for the barn spread. For this page I wanted to show all the insects that live in the damp dark conditions in a barn within a farm habitat Below is the final art work for this spread. I decided to replace the spiders with more moths as I really liked the design of the collaged moths and thought they would stand out better on the dark background as opposed to how the spiders would look.
