04/05/2021: Vegetables (page 8).

 As part of the farm habitat section of the book, I felt like it was appropriate to include a page on growing vegetables. Below is the rough for his spread.

Here are some of the collage vegetables I made for this spread. I really enjoyed making these as I don't often make food illustrations but I liked playing around with colour shape and texture in a new way.

Here is the final outcome for this spread. Initially I was going to paint a background but I suddenly had the idea to use some beige material I have for the background as it reminds me of grocery bags to store vegetables. I really like the use of using texture in this piece to make the vegetables stand out more as opposed to using paint. I think that it also works really well for the flat way composition as it looks like they could be laid out on a table. I was going to collage foliate on the other side but I decided I liked it plain as the vegetables are quite busy however I may go back to this at a later date.
