03/05/2021: Pond (page 7).

 Below is the rough version for my pong double page. I wanted this piece to feel similar to the rockpool one in that it was an underwater shot but I also wanted to include a slither of above the water with a duck swimming to add some continuity between the farm animals on the previous page to ensure that the habitat felt like it was till within a farm. I also wanted to indicate the life cycle of a frog so that this page is educational.

I used my book on pond life as my research for this piece.

This is the outcome for this spread. Overall I really like the layering and changes of opacity to give the impression of depth underwater. I may make some tonal changes to the duck at a later date as I feel like it doesn't look as if it is swimming underwater.

Below is the second outcome for the pond spread where I changed the design of the duck following a discussion with my tutor. We agreed that the duck would look better if its head was changed it be at a slightly different angle and that the part of the duck which was underwater should be a slightly different colour to the part that is above water.
