15/03/2021- UNIT X Introduction - My learning agreement.

Identify your proposal for practice themes/projects and directions. Outline what you aim to achieve in the unit.

 For my unit X work, I would like to continue to develop work made during the authorship unit and apply it to wider contexts such as live industry briefs. I would also like to finish this unit having made a reference picture book containing my illustrations of the natural world that will be educational for young audiences as this is the area of children’s books that I am most interested in. Furthermore, I will continue to develop and refine my work whilst broadening my traditional and digital skill set.

 

Explain the relationship of your practice direction to your longer-term ambitions towards completion of your degree. Explain how the proposed projects will further contribute to this development.

I think that my unit X proposals will help me to work towards my goal of becoming a freelance illustrator and children’s book illustrator as I will be able to research this area of the industry in more detail. I am continuing to work with the theme and topic of illustration so that I can gain as much knowledge as I can about the natural word so that I can convey this knowledge within my work.

 

Describe the illustration/animation outcomes you propose to make i.e. What will your outcomes consist of?

I would like to achieve a fully fleshed out portfolio of work which is refined and accurately communicates my interest and research into my chosen subject area of nature. I would also like to refer to some of the points discussed in my CP3 essay regarding sustainability and climate change and produce some activist artwork for this. I would also like to create a picture book – with the specific theme yet to be decided – that is educational and relates to nature. I am also still working on the Jenane publishing ltd. brief I started during authorship which is to create a colouring page for a book about saving the worlds oceans whilst also thinking about ways in which I can apply my work to other competitions and awards – one that is on my radar currently is the AOI world illustration awards 2021 for the science and technology category. Furthermore, I enjoyed creating poster and pattern designs during my authorship unit so this is something that I would like to have another attempt at as I could see my work being used in commercial setting. Working on lots of separate projects like this and treating it like a full-time job will keep me motivated and able to manage my time well. I think that it will also give me a sense of what it will be like to work freelance on lots of different and exciting briefs.

 

Explain how the proposal relates to the unit learning outcomes. How will the work demonstrate you have addressed the learning outcomes?

LO1- The approach that I take to this unit will be mature and will allow critically informed decision making. I have a clear plan set out in my learning agreement of what I would like to achieve and each of these things relates to the career I am aiming for post-graduation. I aim to consistently reflect on these throughout my blog

 

LO2- I aim to continue to c challenge myself to develop my work in exiting new ways and with my newly acquired digital skills, my potential horizon is being expanded by the day. My work over the last few units has started to develop a strong sense of autonomy which I plan to continually develop throughout unit X through producing lots of work and reflecting and refining it.

 

LO3- I have clearly identified my chosen context for my work and will ensure that this is reflected within my final body of work to a professional industry standard. All my process will be documented on the blog and all final works will be presented on my official website
