21/01/2021: Crocus collage.

 This is a collage I made of some crocus flowers in the soil. I really like this collage and feel that it has been my most successful so far.

Firstly, the way in which I layered the petals gives a really nice 3D effect and works well as part of a collage. The effect of this is more obvious in person though and doesn't quite look the same on photographs unfortunately,

Furthermore, I really like the textures that I created within the piece, particularly for the soil. I really like the random splatters of paint which give the piece a very messy and natural feel.

Something I wish I did differently was the shapes of the flowers an d leaves, I feel like if i had planned the piece out a little more I could of refined the shapes of these which would of elevated the piece and demonstrated more of a variety of angles.

The colours chosen however are really sensitive and I think that this is fitting for the image as crocus flower during the early spring and the gentle pallet is fitting for this season.

12/05/2021: Bees (page 13).

Below is the rough design for the bee spread I am working on. My idea behind this piece was that I wanted to feature bees and their hive amongst an apple tree which I collaged as part of my work in the authorship unit. With it being one of my more successful collage works, I really wanted an opportunity to use it in this book Below is the final image. I really like how this page spread turned out. I like the texture and the colours and think it is visually exciting

14/05/2021: Inside barn(page 6).

Below is the design for the barn spread. For this page I wanted to show all the insects that live in the damp dark conditions in a barn within a farm habitat Below is the final art work for this spread. I decided to replace the spiders with more moths as I really liked the design of the collaged moths and thought they would stand out better on the dark background as opposed to how the spiders would look.
