16/11/2020: Charly Harper artist research.

Recently I have been researching the artist Charly Harper as his work is heavily influenced by the natural world.

In many ways however, Harpers work is very different to mine. for instance, his work is very stylised and at times features lots of geometric shapes. He also works digitally whereas my work is more traditional.

 I really like the way in which Harper approaches design in his work. His busy illustrations really have a sense of movement and the gestural marks he uses help him achieve this. His drawings have lots of layers to them and he is able to draw attention  to the animals by using bright colours which contrast the muted tones used within the backgrounds. Bright colour isn't something I use in my work often as I prefer using natural earthy tones. However, I could see myself adding splashes on bright colour to certain aspects of the drawing in the way that Harper does.
